31 day meme

Jan 03, 2011 20:52

I found out about this 31 day meme from ashestothestars. I've seen a couple of people do them recently but I've never done one myself. This one looks to be a sort of new yeary type one so it seemed a good one to attempt and a good time to start it! Hopefully those who have just found/added me will get to know me better and those of you who have known me for a ( Read more... )

The 100% on my German exam didn't surprise me either, although it did embarrass me a great deal and subjected me to even more bullying. It was the first year that anyone else had done any German - in my high school French was done in the first year and then German was introduced in the second. By that time, I'd already had two years of proper German lessons plus all the stuff I'd picked up just from living there. I remember correcting the teacher on a couple of occasions :-/

I do still have my keyboard, it's a Yamaha *mumblemumble*. I bought it with birthday money for my 16th birthday. It's currently under my bed still in its box. I used to have it out in my room but I don't have space for it any more. I can't remember when I last played it. Possibly when I was at uni, because I tried taking up guitar again about then.

I also must confess that I spent a while squinting at the view out the window and trying to figure out exactly where we were when that picture was taken, but I couldn't place it.I do believe that was taken ( ... )

"I love languages and have learnt French, German, Spanish and Japanese so far"
Woot, I didn't know that. *impressed*
I tried several languages, but so far the only one which accepted to stuck in my brain was English.
And French, somehow :P, but after a few years of using wow-speech everyday (which even in France uses a lot more english words than french one. Usually used the wrong way, and often quite deformed to match French grammar and conjugation. Yep, wow players apply French conjugation to English words. It's actually quite interesting to observe the development of this new "language"), I'm not too sure of what remains of my French. ^_^

Oh, and it seems I managed to never noticed this "dandelion and burdock" drink. I don't think I ever saw a bottle of it though, so I guess it will have to wait until I next set foot on the british islands.

I learnt French for about 3 years. It's a standard language to learn at high school over here. I didn't really get on with it though, I found German much easier.

Dandelion and burdock is more common in the north of England so if you were only down South you might not have seen it. It looks like this. It's only called D'n'B on the label so unless you know what that stands for, you won't realise what it is.

I mostly stuck to the South and South-East: a stay at some friends' in the Canterbury area (with a trip to Stonehenge), a day at London, a convention near London.
I just went once to Birmingham, but that was for a 3 days long Highlander convention with an Irish and an American friend and I was rather young, so I didn't get to visit a supermarkets (getting some "Chicken McNuggets" and not a "McChicken" was already challenging enough :P ). Now whenever I go to a foreign country, I drool on every unknown products in the supermarkets that seem strange/interesting/tasty. ;)

Do they have some D&B in Scotland? I got to taste Irn Bru there, which I used to like.

I didn't know a lot of those things *takes notes for stalking purposes ::giggle::* You need to spend more time working on your musical skills, sounds like they're worth keeping up with!

I was quite surprised to end up as a tenor actually. I was an alto before and when my voice seemed to be getting quite low, I was expecting to end up as a baritone.

I think my reasoning at the moment for learning something that will be of some use is because my brain is currently wired towards needing skills for a job and also for not having money to waste on something that's not going to help with that. Passion and interest may go a lot further but you still need connections and opportunities to have any of the experiences you've listed :-/

My first car was blue and a '76 model as well.

I knew you liked purple but I wasn't sure if it was exactly the same shade ;)

You are clever!
I'm not sure if that's confirmation or surprise!

John. You can't choose John. Good Lord Nathaniel.

I also like purple (am wearing it right now) and D&B and Irn Bru, but no longer drink Irn Bru due to not drinking caffeine. Sometimes I have a tiny sip of Sam's. Sometimes I fall off that wagon SPECTACULARLY.

Why can't I choose John? Does that make my awesomeness level rise to dangerous proportions? (Btw, you can continue to call me Lord Nathaniel, I like the sound of that.)

You wouldn't think Irn Bru would have that much caffeine in it. I mean, it's bright orange, where do they hide the caffeine??

I realise the folly of not putting a comma in. "Good, Lord Nathaniel" makes me sounds like a Stormtrooper. Which scare me.

IDK but it has loads in. So doe Dr Pepper, which I also miss.

Good Lord Nathaniel sounds not unlike Good King Wencelas which is what I first thought of.

Never a big fan of Dr Pepper. At least you can still have dandelion and burdock. What about Tizer? Apparently I used to love that when I was little but I tried it a while ago and it didn't appeal.

You didn't say why I couldn't choose John! I am v intrigued.
