Don't wanna go to work tomorrow. I wish I knew how much longer I was going to be doing this sucky temp placement, though there has been some discussion about the person I'm covering for. Ze's off sick and the sick note runs out next week so maybe ze'll come back. Oooo, flying pig ( Read more... )

Well, there's many things I have wanted to be.

I wanted to write a book and be published before being 18 (I guess I failed, there :p).
Apart from being a writer, I wanted to be a paleontologist. Or an archeologist. Or a genetician and help cure orphan diseases or feed the world. Or an ethologist. Or an ethnologist.

Seems I currently am a programmer and hate it since a few years.... :s

Aw. Even if you've not been published before 18, you can still go on and do that. That's one of the good things about writing books, there's no age limit!

I think something to do with history would be really interesting, and I do like the idea of archaeology.

Yeah, I'm totally into history (but not after around 14th century) and nomadic tribes or people living like our ancestors did thousands of years ago. ;)

the only think i ever wanted to be was an author, for a while, maybe age 6 or so to about 8. but whenever i told adults they always thought i was saying 'orphan'. whatevz.

but since then i have had literally no direction careerwise. should probably sort that out soon what with being 20 now...

Well, you'd hardly need to study politics to be a politician.

I changed my mind a lot as a wee one, but by the time I was about 10 I was pretty sure I wanted to be a vet. But then came high school and who wanted to do straight maths/science when there was drama and film & tv and legal studies to choose from?

So then I was going to be an actor, and after high school I went and auditioned for the theatre department and basically got told you're awesome, but you look too young. And this was a couple months after my Dad died and I just thought "F$%K you then". And I started a psychology degree instead. But then I got really sick with anxiety/depression and that was the end of that.

So now I STILL don't know what I want to be. But I love what I do now, so I'll enjoy that while it lasts and decide on the rest of my life later :o)

You had drama and film and TV and legal studies at school?! You lucky sod! My school didn't have anything like that. I had to wait till I went to college, so I did Film Studies and Performing Arts there with the intention of doing the acting thing. I enjoyed it but I knew that I really had no chance of getting anywhere in that line of work at all. I can't believe you got told that you look too young. Surely that's a bonus? Especially when you think about the amount of actors that play ages younger than they are.

I think you do a damn good job and what you do now, and that's a good reason to carry on with it for the time being at least. :)

Yes! In Grades 11 & 12 my subjects were English, Maths, Economics, Legal Studies, Film & Television, and Theatre. Twas awesome :o)

And I KNOW, I would have been perfect on Neighbours playing a 12 year old!

Thank you :o) Some days I feel like I'm not a very good parent, but I've got a happy, healthy, content little boy, so I must be doing *something* right ;o)

I'm sure you would have been far too good for Neighbours. Although you could have used it to go onto other things like Kylie and ... the other one. Guy Pearce. *nods*

I think most parents have times when they feel like they're not doing a very good job but it's hardly a job where you're going to get feedback. But I think you're doing a fantastic job and Josiah certainly seems to back me up.
