http://html5games.com/ and other sites suggest that people are making games with HTML5, though you probably already know that from a web search. Like any new technology, it's probably going to take a while for people to develop best practices and libraries to support using it well - but if you're ahead of the game you might be able to carve out a good niche.
What have you been doing in Java that's disinterested you so?
It's not what I've been doing with Java so much as what's being done with Java. Oracle is suing Google over Dalvik, the Android's JVM. Oracle is citing 7 patents and copyright violations. Seems Sun only released the desktop version under GPLv2 With Classpath Exception, they never did that with the one for cell phones. Google is telling Oracle to suck mud, SpringSource basically reverse engineered Java to create Dalvik (read that: clean room

Oh, no! I'm sorry, I didn't mean that! I mean, I said my piece, and that's it for me. Believe me, I've seen enough holy wars, I'm not interested in starting one. Besides, if I truly believe in software freedom, that means I have to believe others are free to choose as they wish.
For others, the whole Java thing won't be as big a deal. I was just explaining my stance. I apologize, I hope I didn't step out of line there.
