http://html5games.com/ and other sites suggest that people are making games with HTML5, though you probably already know that from a web search. Like any new technology, it's probably going to take a while for people to develop best practices and libraries to support using it well - but if you're ahead of the game you might be able to carve out a good niche.
What have you been doing in Java that's disinterested you so?
It's not what I've been doing with Java so much as what's being done with Java. Oracle is suing Google over Dalvik, the Android's JVM. Oracle is citing 7 patents and copyright violations. Seems Sun only released the desktop version under GPLv2 With Classpath Exception, they never did that with the one for cell phones. Google is telling Oracle to suck mud, SpringSource basically reverse engineered Java to create Dalvik (read that: clean room

Oh, no! I'm sorry, I didn't mean that! I mean, I said my piece, and that's it for me. Believe me, I've seen enough holy wars, I'm not interested in starting one. Besides, if I truly believe in software freedom, that means I have to believe others are free to choose as they wish.
For others, the whole Java thing won't be as big a deal. I was just explaining my stance. I apologize, I hope I didn't step out of line there.
No, no, I meant it to be ironic :) I started to write a bigger reply for your entry and then I realized that I'm basically starting a flame, so I deleted that and wrote just the comment above :)
To be fair, I also had to redo my original response because I was turning it into a massive rant against Oracle. I was partway through and I thought, "What am I doing?!?" There are plenty of other venues for me to do stuff like that, and this isn't the place. So I stuck with just the news of what happened and left it at that.
