Happy new year, Gally!!! Hahahaha, don't worry, I stole it some where else. It would have taken me 10 minutes if I actually typed the whole thing out myself. XD

yay! :D
red pockets are basically little red envelopes (with moolah) that married relatives give to (generally younger than them) unmarried relatives XD New years is a great time ;P

Thanks! Happy CNY to you too!

I only got one hung bao. Oddly, it was from one of my dad's coworkers. It's a lucky toonie though. Maybe I'll buy a lotto ticket with it. :3

That is odd.. unless your Dad is close to his coworker?
But hey, you could hit the jackpot from that ticket! :O!!!

So you can spend the lucky money if it's on something that depends of luck or something?

I got red packets a couple times but I didn't find out any meaning behind them until later ('You can't spend it, that's lucky money. Like your luck for the year.' Me- 'Really? Crap no wonder I'm boned XD').
I bought comics with them ;;;;;

Well, traditionally you get two from your parents; one to bless you for the year which stays by your bed, one you can spend right away on anything you want. Traditionally they also come in either twos, or a multiple of two, for luck reasons.

...I have a horde of red pockets saved up by my bed ^____^;;;;
