it's a peranakan dish tt is not easy to find these days. heh. u can try some when u r back! i must warn u tho, it's an acquired taste!

That is a traditional peranakan dish. Buah keluak is a nut from Indonesia and is commonly known as the ambrosia of peranakan food. when is it not treated, the nut is extremely poisonous as it contains a cyanide compound. But after it's treated...it's heavenly when in curries or soups!

Ya i know but i'm fussy. after having tried nona's mum's pineapple tarts, nothing else compares! i wanna try making my own. nothing beats homemade ones!
