Polenta. Polenta. Polenta.

Polenta. Or Italian corn meal mush, to put it bluntly. It's hard to wax eloquent or get philosophical, but I'll try. For the uninitiated, I should point out that polenta is made from either the coarse or the fine corn meal. I prefer the coarse. Quaker Oats markets an excellent version, but the ethnic Italian variety is, of course, ideal ( Read more... )

I'm sorry to hear about that. My condolences. You are certainly one he must have been mighty proud of.

MMM....tasty bland food...spiced up only with other things...
It does make a tasty meal, and although I haven't had it in a while, I know that it fills you up a lot faster than most other foods.
My grandfather likes to tell the story of how, in Italy, some of his relatives there used to make a giant batch of polenta, and they would place it in the middle of the table and everyone would dig in...no plates. Just shove the fork in, grab some, and eat. Wonder how clean that table was...

I told a similar story too. In fact, I just told it above in my entry and used to tell it in class. Yes, served plain it is quite bland...as is pasta. The closest American equivalent is hominy grits, so popular at breakfast in the South, but usually served with butter, sugar, and milk. You know, if someone ate a large amount of uncooked polenta, their stomach would expand and burst. That's known as "death by polenta."

Mr. Deluca,

Immediately after reading this post, I went into my kitchen and made some delicous corn meal mush.

Also, on the date (Feb 15) of your concert, I have class from 6:30 to 8:30. I took so long to respond to your email because I was not sure if I could get out of it, but I can't. I would still love for you to visit, so if you'd like to meet anytime before 6:30 or after the concert, I would be delighted. Please let me know. I am honestly disappointed that I cant attend the concert with you, because I would love to attend an event at Mechanics hall and hang out with a great guy.

Also, I enjoyed the "condom entrance" photo taken by Drew.

Oh, shucks. gallianoparfait February 6 2006, 09:16:36 UTC
Oh, shucks...I'll e-mail you about other possibilities, Mike. Anyway, your class, your future, your high-paying career job are more important than mere music.

Incidentally, Lianne Elsner, who posts here as "eve6grl02," will be doing graduate work in computer science at WPI next year after she graduates from RIC.

By the way, will you also be attending the "Mr. Hetero" contest also at Mechanics Hall, 4 days after the concert?

What a douche the guy who came up with that must be.

Agreed. I think I'll have ironing to do that night. But I'll be sure to send him this postcard from Amsterdam, if I return there:
TO MR. HETERO FROM AMSTERDAM WITH LOVE.
