WHY YOU HAVING TO PICK THE HARD ONES? Also one (1) character. >B|
The Merchant: 2. I think his name has something to do with his occupation. Maybe. As to his real name, I haven't really decided what that is, or if I want to do that at all. "The Merchant" is part of his rustic, stinky mistique, after all.
3. What? He's got a cockney accent, glowing eyes, and a big coat. How could you not tap that RP potential? I originally had some grand ambitions about a weekly/monthly visit to the Nexus to sell really bizarre things, like some of our other Nexus vendors. People could theoretically sell stuff, too, only to have him re-sell it at a later date. He might also dig through your garbage

1a. I still think his actual name should be Obby. Obby J. Crabbs. (Apologies to Something Awful and Dane Cook...except not really.)
4a. Remember all that nonsense Saddler wrote, upon the deaths of Salazar and Mendez, going on with how his next Master Plaga'd co-cultists need to be picked carefully based on their personalities, or else they'll turn on him? Yeop. :V
5a. Comedy! Hijinks! Toothbrushes being burned!
2b. So if he has a brother, they'd be the Warner Bros. Awesome iz me.
5b. I, for one, would not mind seeing more of him and his mustache.
Aku: 2. Insofar as I've gleaned, "Aku" was a derivative of "Akuma" -- making reference to the mythical dragon, as well as the general Japanese term for evil and darkness. I can only imagine shortening it moves it a step away from the direct reference, which I think is a nice touch.
3. I'm trying to remember the exact thought process, but I think it all began when I decided to hunt up and watch the whole series. I really enjoyed the one or two episodes I saw on its original airing, and snapped up the DVDs. The more I thought about it, not only is Aku just inherently a fun character for being a balance of evil and humor, he would fit perfectly into the Nexus setting.
4. :V I don't think there's much I can cover that wasn't already touched on in canon. And as much as I hate to say it, he's a bit of a gag character for now.
5. He'll be back for more evil and abuse of CAPS LOCK. I'm thinking up more potential LOL.
Kyle:2. According to several of those stupid baby name sites, Kyle has Gaelic origins, and means "handsome" or "narrow/

2. Her name is of Czechoslovakian/Slavic origins, meaning "golden." I didn't select it so much for the meaning as the origins. She is, in fact, not of Slavic descent. Her real name "Esther Ballantine", implying more of a Scottish/British descent. She also seemed like an 'Esther' for some reason.
3. First, I needed a female character. Second, I wanted a laconic character -- someone would wouldn't blab on and on forever like some of my other pups do (and like I tend to do, myself). I wanted her to be blunt, and have a pseudo-tragic past, but not angst about it. So those were my parameters.
4. She had a fairly happy and/or successful life prior to the Car Accident That Left Her in a Coma (TM). Lucky for her, she managed to be under while the world was going to hell in a hand basket.
5. She could very well plod along, killing people into infinity. I might reveal her back story to her, but I expect she still wouldn't change much.

4a. Replace the rubbish I wrote for my initial response with that.
5a. Like the stinky, old dog that just won't die, he'll try to crawl into bed with you at any chance he gets.
2b. Truly. Let me bask for a moment.
5b. O rly?
