Well... my luck with the PS3 improved slightly? Sort of. First attempt at the fix didn't work due to lack of heat gun (used a blow dryer but it just didn't produce the temperature needed to reflow the motherboard).
So, try number 2 proceeded today. It worked! For five minutes. D: Long enough to get

You have no idea how painful it was to start taking it apart the first time. D: I'm better now, knowing at least I don't make it any worse off than it already is... But yeah, I really miss my PS3. ;_;

For those stipped screws. You might try some super glue on the end of something, like a wooden dowel. Don't put it on anything you don't want to trash. Put it on the dowel then put the dowel on the screw. Hopefully they will stick and you can pull them out. They will be a lost cause going back in, but I'm sure you can find replacements somewhere.

Hm, that's an idea. I don't know if we have a dowel, but I can give it a try. The screws are pretty tiny, I'm not sure if replacements will be easy to find, but at this point I don't really care. ^^
