FIC: Over Vales and Hills with Image!

May 13, 2006 18:03

Okay, so I was lazying around, procrastinating, as usual, and playing with Photoshop (yes, despite complete lack of desire to make icons or fanart or anything of the sort, I'm actually quite proficient with the program) and I made this little ficlet, with cover. I really wish someone who likes that sort of thing would made art for some of my fics ( Read more... )

LSD has never been a more appropriate name for something

Great turn of phrase! And good weird, possibly-homicidal flowers.

Nice and creepy. I've been fascinated with sentient plant life ever since I read "Day of the Triffids." You evoked a similar atmosphere--that air of not knowing why because the life is so alien that we can't communicate with it. And I enjoyed the imagery, particulary of Ronon and Teyla.

Thanks.

Thanks! I haven't read 'Day of the Triffids' but I think now I'll have to. I've always been fascinated by the idea of senient plants as well. This is the second time I've written them. The first was in an Enterprise fic, and they were humanoid and pacifists, with a whole culture based on smells. I think I actually like the killer-plants better . . . . Perhaps I was exposed to 'Little Shop of Horrors' too much when I was young.

Darn. I wish I actually watched enough of Enterprise to make the fanfiction meaningful. Maybe some day.

I forgot to say that I really liked the choice of flower. Daffodils are so pretty and benign-looking and almost silly flowers, so that made their attack even more menacing.

I just read "Day of the Triffids" a few weeks ago. It's old school scifi and a quick read, but good.

And "Little Shop of Horrors" is awesome.
