Did you see that at last weekend's Asylum 16 con, Jensen said that in this episode there was a scene where at first he read it as 'Yeah, Dean's angry' and then he thought about it and played it differently, and the writers' reactions were that he'd taken it in an unexpected direction but they liked it.

Notice that Dean was upset that God had abandoned the world, not saying anything about how God screwed over the Winchesters--completely in character that Dean would think that was important--everyone else deserved better, the crap that happened to him, he deserved ( ... )

I didn't see that! I love that he knows this character so well that he knew what would speak louder than anger: Dean's tears. *gulp*

I'm now finally able to read through the thread of your email string, too...and it's amusing to see some similar thoughts, and some differing thoughts, about this one. It was certainly an episode that would trigger opinion! :)

Dean must have said something to Sam about the amulet, right? I bet they didn't (and won't) bring it up on the show though because Robbie Thompson was very careful to keep where it had been ambiguous (though both Jensen and Jared said Sam had it all along) and any brotherly conversation would have had to discuss where it had been...

Well, in my head he certainly did. I just wish we could have seen it. *starts mentally writing another fic*

BTW, re: the Impala--the plan was to free Lucifer and have him teleport everyone to safety, so ,why would they drive Baby on the rescue mission if they weren't going to drive home?!? YES!! I mean, maaaayyyybe they thought they'd get out of ( ... )

I love reading your reviews, you put lots of thinky thoughts in my head that I hadn't thought before :)

”She wants him inside her. Okay, sure. He does have that effect on women.” LOL Doesn’t he just :p

I love the way Dean acts around Chuck, in awe, slightly afraid and stiff like he can't relax - and let's face it who would relax in the company of God. He also reacted the same way to Death, I love how Jensen does that! I also loved the boys’ reactions to God, both so different and so in character - perfect!

I also thought it extremely weird that Amara was warded against God when she was also calling for his attention. I tend to give our show much too much leeway and forgive it so many inconsistencies I'm afraid, but this went a bit too far unless as you mentioned there is a reason for this.

Thanks again Gaelic.

Yes -- so true! He has a healthy respect for the power he knows is there, but at the same time refuses to cower so he ends up looking like he's constantly in pain...which...maybe he is.

If there ends up not being a reason, I shall tsk and shake my head. That was a big miss.

See you next week! :)

Loved the ep, though I'm also nervous about whether they can pull this off. I'm guessing God will sacrifice himself or otherwise leave with some new mythology emerging with the boys at its center. Imagine the big bads who might emerge with God off the board!

I actually loved Kevin's resolution and thought Donatello was a hoot.

I'm hoping more for this. I'd like for next season to have Chuck back up in Heaven, the angels where they're supposed to be, Crowley King of Hell causing a ruckus, Lucifer forgiven and fully healed (as in even his mind) and the boys concentrating on something other than Heaven v Hell. Like Dean said, give me vampires and I'm good.

I loved seeing Osric...but Kevin was there and and gone so fast other than having another familiar face to reassure the boys that Chuck was Chuck it was just...random for me.

And I totally agree that Donatello was funny -- and loved many of his lines of dialog -- but what was missing for me was his overall purpose...which I hope comes out in the next couple of episodes.

Thanks for reading and commenting -- always great to hear from you. :)

Metatron said a while back that he had "flipped a switch upstairs" so there would be no more prophets. I'm guessing the switch got flipped back. Crowley rounded up the future prophets in 8.07, but the boys rescued most of them (Crowley had already killed at least 1).

That random, brief Kevin interlude.Plus, why was he at the bunker? He was supposedly anchored to his dad's ring that his mom took with her so she could take him home and keep him safe ( ... )

Yes! Right! I knew there was something, I just couldn't remember the exact parameters. So, Amara has "god powers" as Dean said, maybe she unflipped it. Which would seem odd since she is basically like anti-heaven...so maybe it was a mistake? Like she didn't actually mean to restart the Prophets, it was just a side-effect of her throwing her power around?

Dean may have a highly entertaining tantrum about Baby when Chuck isn't around (not that Chuck ever really isn't around). If it comes down to it, he's taken her apart and put her back together before...

I love everything about this. :)

I feel like Chuck in boxers slurping lo mein was reverting to hapless, familiar, non-intimidating Chuck to give the boys and himself a break.

Maaaaaaybe. I could see that being his logic. But, I don't like that logic. Heh.

Thank you for reading! I love hearing from you.

Thanks for taking the time to write your thoughts. I enjoy reading what you have to say.
I hope your move goes well and that you enjoy your new home. May I ask if you will still be in Lawrence?
I think being in Sam and Dean's birth place explains your strong insightful connection to them. ;)

Thank you for reading! :)

Yep, we'll be staying in Lawrence. It really is a great town; we love it here. It was just time for a different house.

Hope to see you next time!
