I really enjoy your rambles…. now that my oldest is off to college I have no one to discuss/rant/vent with after an episode, and I am like everyone else who comments here - whether I agree with some/all/none, the discussion is so refreshing

You clever thing - I still love the idea that the amulet in Dean's hands could be significant -- and rather than destroying Amara, maybe creating something...I don't now. I'm really interested to see if/how they let that play out.
Okay, so lying. Someone above mentioned that they thought Chuck was lying about the warding, too. And that would actually make more sense than if it were truth. All the things you pointed out -- the deflection, the rewrite, the dodgy way he claimed Lucifer wasn't really a villain.... I'm going to think with my fingers for a moment

My landlady/housemate has a visual analogy for talking to kids about lying. She takes a cup or bowl of water, puts in 2 or 3 drops of food coloring, says that each drop represents a lie, and stirs it. Then she shows the kid how little effect a few drops of water have on the color, how much water it takes to turn it clear again, the tens of thousands of truths one must speak to regain trust after lying.
I calculated that a half-liter bottle of water contains 10,000 drops, but happily a child who was building a habit of lying hasn't passed through our house in a while (and we have about 100 people for 2 weekends a year), and sadly someone threw away the empty half-liter bottle we had saved for next time.
The comments here give me almost as many thinky thoughts as the rambles themselves. :)
Last week, I disagreed with almost everything in your Ramble. This week, I agree with almost everything :) a The only exception is Dean and Amara - I was happy to finally see them together again, and I found those scenes pretty intriguing. Full of tension. Because to me, there is a big threat, a big danger here. It’s not just the magical bond they have because of the MoC that draws Dean to Amara. Like she said, she's a promise of the end to Dean’s struggle, his suffering. He’s never had a chance to just stop and be. Even the year with Lisa was tainted with the pain and guilt over Sam being in the Cage. Dying meant going to Hell or Purgatory or to a Heaven that devastated Dean. There’s no rest for him, ever

Hmmmm. When you put it that way, I can see the potential of danger to him. I guess she just doesn't scream "THREAT" to me when it comes to Dean, but I do see how she has the potential to be problematic....
(I love what you said about God having faith in humans in real life.)
Sometimes, it's that belief that keeps me going, y'know? God has faith in us even when we lose faith in everything, including ourselves. Gives me hope. :)
I absolutely agree that Amara doesn't scream "THREAT". She's more sneaky, subtle, difficult to label and therefore difficult to resist, dangerous in a "get under your skin" kind of way. Which is what I find fascinating.
And I'd still love to learn more about her. Something else than the "me and God had disagreements, he locked me up and now I want to destroy him" story, which we've already been told several times, with practically nothing new added to it. That's probably my only serious complaint about the Amara storyline.
Thank you for voicing so many of my own doubts over the turn the show has taken. It's great to have Chuck back but I am worried that, having really gone there, the show will never be able to do justice to a God storyline with God actually in it - they have to "downplay" his all-mighty-ness but making him just another one of the guys (and an even slobbier one) makes him weak. Of course, hopefully, that will also make those moments, which surely must come in the next couple of episodes, when He actually reveals his power more impressive. But for now...hmm..I'm not convinced

Biggest plus for me was the reiteration of just how crucial Dean is in the Big Picture - God said it. With that reminder I have real hope the show may not quite have forgotten/abandoned/ignored "The Righteous Man"
ME TOO. I am crossing everything that this is true.
So, I got a bit way-laid with the story. I have 12k words done and it's just under half completed. I need a decent chunk of time to finish it, and with moving over Memorial Day weekend, I might not get that for a fair bit. BUT! It won't be too much longer. :) Once I get to this stage in a story, it has it's hooks in me until it's finished. Don't lose faith in me! :)
I thought this episode had some stellar moments and then some really head scratching moments. And the editing seemed choppy. The scenes with Chuck and Dean were amazing. Although that made me feel like Jared was getting the short end of the stick in the drama department, but maybe he will get his turn. The prophet things made no sense. Unless Amara is not warded, but Chuck doesn't want to confront her yet, so he had to come up with a way for the boys to find her. I thought the prophets got their visions from god anyhow? That last scene made no sense at all. Why let him go? I guess the boys don't know how many episodes they have left this season. Chuck should though.... :)

Y'know, I saw this same sentiment expressed on Twitter and I had to think about it. For me, when it comes to outside forces, it works better if they're not both emotional. I think that way, it shines a light on the one who is. And I also thought Sam's "hero worship" was more in line with his genuine personality than if he'd been in any way upset or angry.
I'm definitely in "let's see where they take this" mode. :)
So sorry for the delay. Packing and organizing for the move midst a ridiculous time at work has me all sideways. It's posted now, but...I'm not sure if you'll like it. :/
I enjoyed the ep very much - and mostly for the reasons you mentioned. That first scene between the three of them was fantastic! I agree that Dean does not see Chuck the way he sees hs father. He has shown in previous episodes that he is not angry at or disappointed with John

One is creation, one is destruction but that doesn't mean they are evil or good. Both are necessary. And both have their issues. I'm kind of hoping that they will find a way to work things out without killing Amara.
Based on this, I'm looking forward to seeing what you think about 11.22. I wasn't impressed, personally, but I'm hoping people might be able to change my mind.
Funny though if Dean is really suicidal himself and is trying to convince Chuck not to kill himself

I found this interesting, too.
