Honestly, i didn't care for this one. I can't stand Claire, everytime she-s on screen i wanta slap her whiny goth ass into tomorrow, AFTER i show her how to put in eyeliner and brush her damned hair.
I enjoyed the guys, of course, and the dinner scene was priceless, and i love Jodi. I was also affraid that this would be the show they killed her in. I felt bad for the other girl, cause she was at least trying.
Claire can fall off the earth and i don't think I'd waste the effort of a wave goodbye. I'd say what i really think about her but I'm trying to nice. Even your scintilating ramble can't make me see her any other way and you can almost always sway me with your word sorcery.
I have to agree and the ratings where low for this one as well, I don't care for Claire all that much either, and she really does not need to be a hunter. I was glad to see Jodie I love Jodie, was glad to see her up and around. I love seeing Jensen/Dean and the dinner scene was great. some good parts but mostly ZZZZZZ
I told Terry (below) that I think I was probably just in a bit of a charitable mood when I watched it, allowing that people get angry and act out for all different kinds of reasons. And honestly, I was more focused on how Claire and Alex effected Jodi than I was on Claire herself. Like I said, she needed to have someone jerk a knot in her tail and getting chewed on by a vamp probably helped that. ;)
I loved this episode and your Ramble so very much! The dinner scene really made it for me as well. I enjoyed it so much, if the rest of the season tanks, it made the season for me. I loved how the ladies were looking at how the boys were eating. So funny. And the looks from Dean were hilarious. This was so much fun, and then so scary. Well done show!
And this line your wrote, "It was about damaged people of varying walks of life figuring out how to come together and build something worthwhile and maybe even a little beautiful out of the cracked and broken fragments of their past.", wow, just beautiful. Gives me hope!
I really hope whatever you are going through gets better quickly. Take care!
Thank you! I can appreciate that not every episode is going to be to everyone's taste and that's just fine. But I'm glad you found enjoyment in it, too. :)
Thanks for reading and commenting. And for the kinds words.
As I mentioned in my reply to Terry above, I am not a Claire fan. And I was relatively indifferent to Alex the first time around. So I wasn't particularly enthusiastic when I saw the previews for this episode. I'm really, really not into the whole wayward daughters thing. I liked Alex a little better in this episode
( ... )
Yeah, I told Terry that I think I was probably in a bit of a charitable mood when I watched it, allowing that people get angry and act out for all different kinds of reasons. It was entertaining and there were good moments and it was enough for me to go, thanks, okay, what's next?? :)
I've never been much of a Jody Mills fan (not that I dislike her, but there are other side characters that I loved more -- though they're mostly dead, so there you go). And I have to admit I've never felt much interest in seeing how she, Claire and Alex are doing either.
That means I didn't have high expectations regarding this episode. But luckily, that also means the episode was actually a pleasant surprise for me. Firstly, Sam and Dean were included more than I thought they would. Secondly, it was well-written, and had some pretty good moments, both Winchesters-related and Sioux Falls-related. So it probably won't be one that I'll re-watch frequently, but I did enjoy it. :)
Just as I enjoyed reading your Ramble. Thanks, and see you next week!
I also was struck that Dean glanced at Sam with the kid vamp and went to Jodie and the girls, knowing Sam would be fine. I liked that subtle show of confidence in his brother. And the dinner conversation was priceless! I was a little surprised at what a big deal they made out of Jodie's cooking, I thought we'd seen that Dean was a decent cook, though someone else pointed out that he probably is too exhausted to do it often.
I wish that Claire's hunting efforts had been fleshed out a little more--perhaps she had been seeing false leads and that got proven to her, and THEN the vamps showed up...but I guess not enough time in a TV episode for a more complicated plot.
Hope they get back to the main arc soon, I am very anxious about the boys having to deal with Amara and Casifer!

But it was nice to see Jodi and have her not die.

Right? It was a good balance, I thought.

Me too! So, is it officially Casifer? I do like that more than Lustiel which just sounds...I don't know...naughty. LOL!
