Sorry if my comment was confusing. It just seems to me that Justin's wondering what Brian has learned, yet Justin doesn't know this Brian at all. And Justin is ever the little stalker, although in different form, willing to leave his live-in at the party to run off for a quick fuck. Even that statement, that Garrett is a friend and they fuck, the "old" Brian would never have said or done that. And when the garage door went up he sort of expected the Jeep or the Corvette to be there? Really? Maybe Justin hasn't learned as much as he thought he has.
I can only add to your comment that canon Justin has never been as insightful, mature or smart as he thinks he is. He's the type that is sure he's right most of the time. That he has everything figured out and if only X acts/thinks/does what Justin knows is correct everything will fall into place.
Justin needs to man up and take a stand, let Brian know what he has been living for the past 10 years. If Justin keeps acting like the twist he was at 18/19 nothing will get resolved! Aggggggh
Well, we all saw the sex happening, although perhaps not quite the tone. Brian seems in tight control, somewhat emotionally detached and he's very definitely making a point.
"Truer than either of them could ever have believed, because here they were, sixteen years later, doing the same dance, playing the same game. Justin had learned what sex was from this cock, but what had Brian learned? Justin still wasn’t certain.'
That's a fundamental problem, they are still doing the same dance (lust, infatuation, perceived need, crossed/misinterpreted signals and non-communication) and it didn't work then and it's wrong now. Brian learned what real love is, the I'm here for you no matter what - we can work it out kind of love, in the last ten years, but from Ron. Justin hasn't.
Agree with Anonymous above - Brian has learned what love means. And as that is the case, why is he acting like the Brian he was before his relationship with Ron? If Justin hasn't moved on I suppose it's understandable in a way, but Brian should be way beyond this. I'm anticipating an interesting twist here. Can't wait. Although I would still prefer him to stay with Garrett - there's something distasteful about the Brian/Justin relationship. But on the other hand, that is probably part of the allure of this story.
