Lying boyfriend - and Justin thinks only about the Ethan episode. It's good that some of the feelings that should have been discussed years earlier are coming to the fore but it is callous and disturbing that Robbie is so easily dismissed by Justin. What's the old adage - "If you had an affair with your current lover expect them to have an affair again on you"? It still seems like the physical attraction is the driving force and only real connection between Brian and Justin
( ... )
What was Justin doing, running to tell "daddy" how mean everyone else is and to fix it. When that doesn't work he takes his toys and leaves. He really is an immature spoiled brat. Grow some balls, stay, make some hard decisions and be a man and then live with his choices.
Brian may be an ass at times but he faces everything but his inner turmoil (that he buries) head on. He's pushing Justin into a very difficult position but Justin has shown in the past he's capable of pushing right back, if he wants to.
What the fuck had that been all about? Another one of Justin’s five-minute passions. Luckily, it blew over before anyone got hurt
What a great description of Justin's personalty. Unfortunately, not all of the five-minute passions have escaped injury. Will Robbie be the latest casualty? And Brian, he's been a victim either directly or indirectly of Justin's changing passions too many times. He thinks the fuck-buddy status will keep him immune now. Hah, he never learns when it comes to Justin.
I always used to think this five-minute passion thing was the result of bad writing in canon, but in order to make canon fit, I have to read it as a character trait!
I know what you mean. We want to assign it to bad writing, but season one is the only season that it doesn't apply. If the five-minute passion thing was arguably written for four out of five season, it must be meant to be a character trait. Most of us only want to see the traits of the characters that we like and attribute everything else to "bad writing".
A lot of fans attribute the "trashing" of Justin's character in later seasons to tension between Randy and CowLip and the writers (see Del Shores and others -- they have scathing things to say about Randy and his "attitude" which made writing for him something they weren't thrilled about). But writing a fic you have to go by the canon, especially a post-513 fic. So you have to have a rationale for what happened and how various characters responded to those things.
Feel sorry for both of them. Neither really have anyone they can actually talk to about what happened 10 years ago and what is happening now EXCEPT each other and they refuse to talk.
Brian-holding a grudge and being angry for 10 years is a long time. You are a good manipulator--throwing Garrett's name out there to scare Justin. Telling Justin to dump the boyfriend but for what---the status of being Kinney's top boy toy hidden away in the loft.
Justin-sort of like a deer in headlights. Neither option looks all that promising. Heck I may run too.
Strange how Brian says that "the person you are least honest with is yourself" to Justin. Justin needs to say the same thing back.
I feel that something big is brewing that may force a decision on them and leave neither with a choice of their own.
