Ninja Guests

*uses one of the awesome new icons xlivvielockex made for me. :)*

Just to address this on the off-chance someone is concerned about it, LJ is offering up a "My Guests" feature to allow journal-owners to peek at who's visiting them. I haven't read the detailed discussions on it (though I have them queued up in another tab to read), but to give peeps the heads ( Read more... )

Not that I'd be stealthy on your LJ, but I wouldn't want everyone on LJ to know I've lurked on their pages. And I read too many embarassingly naughty fanfics on LJ =P If I want my presence felt, I leave a comment. =D

You are sneaky like a ninja.

Why do I have no ninja!Willow icons?

vamp!Willow, Dark Willow, now ninja!Willow?

"What's next? [Willow] cowboy? [Willow] fireman? Oh, I've got it, [Willow] ballerina!"

In all seriousness though, why did Joss never give us any decent ninja!Willow material?

Joss is obviously anti-Willow.

So...I think it's neat, cause yay seeing numbers, but where/when do we see these actual reports? I keep hearing about this but failing to see how one can actually view this...

I don't think the feature is here yet. Right now, you can only opt in if you want. I haven't seen a date set as to when it'll actually be available, though. *is curious to see it, too*

Mmmm, gotcha. Funny how they...never mentioned that anywhere I saw them talking about it...

Well, they do refer to it as an "upcoming" feature on the news post. They just haven't specified when they're planning on launching it. Which is annoying.

I opted in also - with the full knowledge that I prolly couldn't figure out the analytics - being a total luddite. If that's the word I'm looking for.....

It is disconcerting to realize that everyone will know how much I lurk.

Heh. I'm less interested in the individual, "Oh, User X is lurking a lot!" than I am in the overall numbers...which I don't think I'll get fully accurate once since it's opt in (But I'm not sure. As I said, I haven't read the details, yet).

I'd just like a hit count. I don't care so much about tracking who's reading what.

And people will find I lurk quite a bit, too. I don't comment as much as I should. :)

Yeah, I'd prefer a hit counter instead of this. If it's anonymous, you probably wouldn't need an "opt-in" option, and you'd get a more accurate number. Plus, avoidance of all the "omg invasion of privacy!" wank.

I haven't decided yet whether I want to opt in or not. I have a feeling it's going to be mostly useless for my purposes, but who knows.

Definitely. I do wonder why they're implementing it in such an odd fashion. Are they even gonna have just the general number of hits, or is it just a "tracking users" thing? I'd really prefer just the numbers.

I chose stealth reader...not cos I don't want people on my flist to see I'm reading them (usually they can tell anyway....monkey see, monkey comment!)...but I sometimes like to read random livejournals, and i'm not comfortable with them seeing I've visited. Especially cos I end up in some random places! (Erm...no, Hitler Youth blogger, I was not on your page because I agree with you, so do not be trying to friend me....)

rofl. Hadn't thought of that. I do end up in some far-off places in LJ, too.

I won't be using that feature because I know that some people prefer to lurk and stay anonimous. But I want you to know that I always read and enjoy your posts, even when I don't comment.
