WOW, Your Excellency, I am humbled. I have long thought the same thoughts of a need for public gracious acknowledgement that you have so eloquently expressed here but never have I been able to find just the right words. You nailed it and I am humbled.

People act like the people wearing the circlet/crowns didn't like spend years, even decades in service...are not still serving to enhance the experience for the rest of us in doing what they do now... didn't earn their status/rank? Hell I'm new to SCA and I know that's bs. It was our own baroness that has done amazingly to wipe away my past horrible experiences in SCA by gong out of her way to not only make me feel wanted... but to truly make me feel needed... That's as much service as me working in the kitchen, setup, troll, whatever. How many millions of tiny things to people like her do to serve our communty that because subtile go completely unnoticed?

Thank you very much for your perspective. (Lord, how I miss seeing Brocc).

I just want to put in here for clarity- I am NOT a peer.

All I have is my AOA and my Red Raven; but I fell for the "really cool people don't care about awards" and never wore them. When I am working staff at an event though, I try to wear my circlet, because ... I don't know. To help me look official like someone you can Ask Things. Thanks for giving me reasons to think about it more.

I recently became a member of the Order of the White Scarf. I feel it's important to wear the scarf prominently on my arm for a couple of reasons. My lady spent hours and hours doing the embroidery. It is absolutely beautiful. She felt i was worthy of investing all of that work into my scarf. I also feel it is important to show respect to my peers and the Crown that felt I was worthy, whether I felt I was or not. On that same arm, intertwined with that scarf, is a smaller blue and yellow favor I received from my Baroness at my first event as a Don. It shows my love and respect for her. You are correct. It's not about me. I'm glad I'm not in a position to have people serve me. I know it's been tough for you, Heather. You are doing a great job. Thank you. You are helping to keep the Dream alive.
