Comcast sucks

Jul 25, 2009 01:07

Okay, as some of you know, Comcast decided to suddenly yank our cable service out from under us midday Thursday the 23rd. (It's obviously not something related to the digital switchover, because if it had been, we would have lost our signal on 6/12. BUT, we didn't. And we were able to get all channels on all 3 machines (more on that later) that we ( Read more... )

wtf?, real life, tv, bitching

Comcast sucks so much. I swear, if the FIOS service was on this side of the street we'd switch in an instant. Unfortunately, while they're putting it in at the new townhouse community across the street, it doesn't come over here in the cheap seats...

This is why we switched to satellite. Not that it's actually any cheaper, but the Directv crew isn't as obviously moneygrubbing and when I call them -- at all hours-- they hop to it to make me happy.

Sorry you had to go through this. Any interest in hooking up one of the tvs for broadcast signals? I have an antenna and a digital converter box that we bought for the summer house, only to find there are no channels -- NONE!-- available in that area.

Unfortunately, the issue is that it's only 1 tv and 3 VCRs -- with the old cable, a 3-way splitter actually let us tape 3 channels all at the same time. But, apparently, splitters block the signal. Which I'm sure they engineered that way on purpose, the bastards.

Anyway, no go on the using an antenna and dtv converter on an extra tv because the way our apartment building is situated, we'd have to have it on a pole wayyy up above the roof to get past the buildings on either side. :|

really weird - we don't have digital cable but ours is still working - I read your LJ & panicked momentarily and then went & checked and its still working. Of course we almost never watch it since they took away the Cartoon Network :( So I don;t know why yours suddenly stopped working.

You might want to call Comcast to see if they have plans to "upgrade" your account without telling you.

On the one hand, I will be FURIOUS if they lied, because losing the ability to use the splitter will REALLY piss me off. BUT, I'm hoping for your guys' sake that they were lying... I'd be careful though -- take strangemuses' advice and double check, 'cause I'd hate to find out they're just going block by block and you'll end up with the same crappy surprise sometime next month...
