I can kind of understand where Noah was coming from when he was arguing with Luke about Holden/Damian. I mean yeah, he did encourage Luke to give Damian a second chance, but Holden has been the father that's always been there for Luke and raised him. And I think Noah doesn't want Luke to possibly jeopardize that, because he never had a dad like Holden.
Yeah, sort of understood where Noah was coming from - I'm a champion for Luke and Holden, definitely - but I thought it was a bit of an overreaction on Noah's part. He could have gotten his feelings across to Luke without making Luke so upset. I think that if Luke thought that his missing the trip would absolutely devastate Holden, he wouldn't have considered missing it. But I think Luke knew on some level that Holden would be okay with him missing the trip since it was for work. Holden was basically the only one who didn't get on Luke's case about it!
I don't think Luke was making a bad decision...I think he was doing what he thought was right. Still, today's drama and now the previews with Holden that are hanging over our heads till next week don't help! Agh.
I was actually totally on Noah's side during this fight. But that's probably because I've recently been watching clips from when Holden and Luke were held hostage in Malta, and Holden was OMG THE BEST DAD EVER. Seriously, just remembering it makes me squee. You should check out those clips, if you haven't already. Luke is itty!bitty!adorable!Luke and Holden is all, "This is all a game, son. We have to go and save the princess!" while they're locked in some cellar in Malta. I think Oakdalian has them under "Holden and Luke Held Captive
( ... )
But I was totally not buying the "It's for work!" excuse, especially because Luke started his story by being like "OMG SUNBATHING BEACH CRUISE TIME! NO SMELLY BARNS!" See, because of how Luke does his half-pouty really cute "I wanna go to Kentucky" line later on, I see him as trying to continually spin things in a positive light, if just for himself. I do this a lot in awkward situations, and since everyone and their mother seems ready to rip his head off no matter what he does nowadays, I see Luke as searching for the silver lining.
