I just watched a bunch of speeches from the convention: Huckabee, Clinton 1 and 2, Obama, Guliani, McCain, Obama 2 (Michelle obviously, my favorite one), Romney, Alaska lady ( Read more... )

yeah giuliani is pretty much a shit. I really love that he parroted the whole "3:00 am phone call" line.

It seems that right now the republican strategy is just to say that obama is everything anyone might not like and mccain is everything anyone may like regardless of how they actually are.

Not sure whether you're bring sarcastic or serious - but - either way. Seeing as I was drunk when making this post, main point I wanted to make is that he's belittling Obama's job out of Harvard law school. As if working for a non profit helping people in need is shit compared to being in the military?

At the Dem Convention the speakers were very gracious towards McCain's background, and I just find it totally childish Giuliani is making fun of important, respectable, unselfish work? Then somehow tries to tie being a community organizer to machine politics? As if McCain has NO connection to these kind of politics??

Really the whole convention had that same sneering tone. The Giuliani thing is relatively tame compared to the id explosion going on on the internet:
"Obama was a community organizer- where I come from they’re called Bloods or Crips!"
I can't even fake surprise any more. If it's worse this time around, that's just what happens when you feed political diehards the biggest shit sandwich of their lives. Somewhere down in their lizard brains they realize that they've lost Congress, the governorships, that McCain's being thrashed on the electoral map and experts are openly speculating that 2008 is going to be such a kneecutter that the GOP will go the way of the Whigs and cease to exist as a national party.

Given all that - given that the 2012 convention may well be in an airport Ramada - why not go for the gusto?

well, trying to watch all the major speeches, his bothered me most of all. of course dumb shit is going to posted on message boards.

I honestly get sick of liberals poking at conservatives too, as much as I like reading it. But when we're talking about conventions, have a veneer of dignity.

Really the most interesting thing in this graphic is "Do fish get thirsty?", and now I have to take the dumb test now.

Most offensive things that I remember:

"I guess a small town mayor is kind of like a community organizer except that you have ACTUAL RESPONSIBILITIES."

"Al Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America and [Obama] is worried that someone won't read them their rights."

Yes, god forbid we treat them like human beings.
