Updatey bits

I never update this thing, because while I find my own life fascinating, I can't see why anyone else would. But occasionally my internet attention-whore self will surface in a spurt of bullet point summations about what's going on. Now is apparently one of those times, despite my urgent need to get to sleep ( Read more... )

Hi,
Of the two I would rather be friends through lj than facebook. I like to hear about how you are doing even if we don't speak directly that often.

wait, who are you again? I think I know, (friend from high school, name beginning with R?) but then again, I'm always getting these things mixed up. part of the reason I weeded out my flists, actually. Less embarassing all around.

Would that I could. But (ignoring the fact that I have yet to take a decent one) I have no idea how to upload pics to LJ. After all, I'm pretty sure I still owe people pics of my tattoo, and I got that months ago. Guess you'll just have to wait til our paths cross in person again some day :-)

Oh, thank god. It wasn't just me! I couldn't really get through Fitz. I read the first book but really couldn't get into the second one. I just wanted him to DO something else. I found him rather boring. Or maybe just Robin Hobb's writing boring. Oh well.

Love that you found True Blood. Everyone should see this very very guilty pleasure of a show. Better watch seasons 1 and two quick, we get third season in June!

In my opinion, Robin Hobb is an excellent epic fantasy writer. She creates amazing worlds, has logical magic systems, crafts intricate plots on a grand scale, and can take character torture to crazy levels. Her one flaw is that her protagonists always seem to be victims of their fate. They spend most of their stories resisting whatever is trying to happen to them, and inevitably fail. I always find the secondary characters, the ones who eventually inspire the protagonist to claim his destiny, to be far more interesting and admirable. Her books are worth getting through, imho...but only once every two decades or so.

I wish I could post them to LJ, but I don't know how. However, if you're cool with picture messaging, I could send shots of them to you that way.
