It's always nice to get more RL connections, even if it's people you don't see often. It's cool when you think as them as allies or friends, too! I hope you get to talk to the people you met often than you expect!

I'm super-grateful to have met all of them, yes indeed. And we have the internet! And cons! And I'm sure at least a couple of them will end up moving to this city! So there is hope, it is just a little sad right now because we are not used to being in a house where there are not 17 other people who like the same things we do. Sorrow.
