Last night I had a nightmare about discovering all my anime files still had the subs on them.

...yeah, there's really nothing else I can say about that.

In other news, I have been rereading webcomics! Because I sometimes need to have a thing to do that only takes a minute or so, and going through a strip or too is excellent for that. And then I  ( Read more... )

Okay, so the icon isn't GG or QC but it's my favorite webcomic one, So There. harena November 29 2010, 18:42:44 UTC
Hee, yar, i love love Girl Genius and although i am pretty much a Ferret-Come-Lately to that strip, it does not diminish my fanferretness one iota! And although i realize i should have known i could ask you, now i have someone i can ask who the heck the girl in the green vest in this comic that isn't Sleipnir is, i am so muddled!! Is it Violetta? i din't think it was? Or is it? *gets dizzy in all her confuzzlement*

Also, lots of glee for QC too. My favorite as you may well have guessed is Hanners. ♥ i think i own more QC tshirts (Science is a Verb Now, LGBTerrific! Rainbow, and Kitten) than any other webcomic except Sluggy, of course.

The girl in the green vest is--actually I am not sure of her name, but she is the minion of the shirtless Spark with the thing in his chest, although she appears to be doing some side work with Agatha as well. Violetta wears purple, I think, and has short reddish hair, and is not nearly as spunky. Any time you need help, let me know; after seven years of story and new characters, it can indeed get rather confusing. *g*

Of course you would like Hanners! I suspect I am getting a Science Is A Verb Now shirt for Christmas, which is excellent. Come to think of it the vast majority of the shirts are from webcomics. That is because webcomics have the best shirts, obviously.

And neither is this icon but again, favorite webcomic artist! harena November 29 2010, 18:53:48 UTC
Yeah, see, i was pretty darn sure it wasn't Violetta based mostly on the color worn and level of spunky! i've decided to identify with her (i'm spunky, i follow around geeks, and i love green! it so fits!) so it is amusing that her actual name is a bit of a mystery ;)

i just love glowing in the dark with that tshirt. It just fills me with glee. And yes. Webcomics do have the best tshirts, without a doubt (one of my personal favorites is from Ozy & Millie in which Llewellyn says, "That which does not kill me, makes me stranger";D)

OH GIRL GENIUS. I read the whole thing in a whirlwind about two years ago, and I am still attempting to keep up, although I have forgotten half of what happened in the first two arcs and periodically cannot remember who seventy percent of the characters are and I have a really hard time keeping track of a story when I can't just devour it all in a gulp. AND YET IT'S STILL AWESOME. (Also, I share your feelings about Tarvek.)

Reread it! Things become so much clearer! Except for why Tarvek is a love interest, you are right. I mean, I don't object to him? And I do kind of love that he and Gil hate each other so much for reasons that mostly have nothing to do with Agatha? And I eagerly look forward to the day when she forces them to make up with each other via sexytimes? But it does seem like the main reason he decided to follow her around forever and try to impress her is because he thinks she deserves better than Gil, which is not really a good reason. Unless it leads to aforementioned sexytimes. I HAVE MY PRIORITIES, OKAY

totally not inappropriate AT ALL. Shin and Gil would have so much to talk about bookelfe November 29 2010, 19:21:42 UTC
Hahahaha SOMEDAY WHEN I HAVE INFINITE TIME. Which is not this day. M-maybe when grad school apps are done?

And yeah, I am not anti-Tarvek! And have grown sort of vaguely fond of his crankiness over the recent arc. But I am still kind of confused how he ended up a main character, and what his and Agatha's relationship is grounded in given that from what I vaguely recall of their meeting it was mostly Tarvek-and-Lucrezia. And I don't find him anywhere near as interesting or endearing as Gil, who just NEVER GOT AROUND TO BUILDING A DEATH RAY, OKAY. SORRY! IT SLIPPED HIS MIND!

(Then again, my favorite character is Gil's dad, so . . .)

I think Tarvek did want to work with Agatha against Lucrezia, which might have evolved into "oh god this woman is awesome I want to be with her forever", but they never actually showed that, just his indignation over what he perceived Gil's intentions towards her to be. (Gil really should mention that it was all a misunderstanding. A lot of Gil's life is all a misunderstanding, really.) Gil does have more emotional depth, it's true, although that may be because he was around since the very beginning and thus has had more time to develop it. Except you could make the argument that he did start the emotional development rather quickly and Tarvek's had a decent amount of time by now too. So...idk, threesomes. THEY ARE THE SOLUTION TO EVERY PROBLEM.

(That's the weird thing about Klaus, it is hard to genuinely dislike him! I mean, he's an antagonist, and he makes things very difficult for everyone, but he's not as much of an antagonist as he could be, and he does care about Gil, and he very definitely wants to defeat Lucrezia too, so... I love Girl Genius too, and I actually got to pose as Agatha!. My husband (Tom Kidd) did the cover to" Agatha H. and the Airship City" which is coming out from Nightshade Books next month. It's an actual novel by Phil and Kaja. I had fun posing for Agatha, though she didn't wind up looking like me at all.

A novel? Ooooh, that sounds awesome! Is it just a retelling of the second volume, or something else entirely? I suppose there could be multiple airship cities in the world; it is a very big place, after all. And, not gonna lie, I am sort of ridic excited to know someone who is in some way connected to this series. *g* I've met Phil and Kaja, but only at cons, although I think my parents might vaguely know them from somewhere.

Here's a link to the Amazon description http://www.amazon.com/Agatha-Airship-City-Girl-Genius/dp/1597802115/ref=tmm_hrd_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1291073653&sr=1-2

I haven't actually read the book, Tom got it e-mailed to him and had the computer read it to him while he worked on another painting.

I do know Phil and Kaja, though haven't seen them in a while, I think at the last Worldcon in LA Phil used to come to Lunacon in New York (a long time ago) and that's where I met him.
