Last night I had a nightmare about discovering all my anime files still had the subs on them.
...yeah, there's really nothing else I can say about that.
In other news, I have been rereading webcomics! Because I sometimes need to have a thing to do that only takes a minute or so, and going through a strip or too is excellent for that. And then I remembered that it is sometimes difficult to stop at only a strip or two, which is how I ended up rereading the entirety of Girl Genius in two days. Eheh. The thing about Girl Genius is that I've been reading since almost the beginning, back when it was print-only; I have fond memories of acquiring the first few volumes at Emerald City Comic-Con and loving the hell out of them. This was seven years ago. Yeah. Back then, in my wild (read: not wild) middle school youth, I decided I wanted to be a voice actor, pretty much entirely because I was also going through an Invader Zim phase. This meant that obviously I had to find interesting lines to practice on! Which is why, seven years later, I am rereading those first few volumes and finding some parts more suspiciously familiar than others. I was not a very good voice actor, but dammit, if I was going to practice, I was going to practice. I still remember how I said "This isn't fencing! This is swinging wildly!" and "Any plan vere hyu loze your hat iz--?" "A bad plan?" "Right again!". Which are lines that are not unindicative of the series in general, really.
One of the other things about Girl Genius is that it recently (like, within a year, I don't even know) acquired a bazillion new cast members, and while they had distinct character designs and thus were not difficult to tell apart, I have still been having difficulty remembering who all of them were. And then, upon the reread, it turned out several of them were actually old cast members who had simply vanished after the first few volumes. And the plot become much clearer, and, holy shit, they still haven't gotten to that future-them bit from the first volume? After seven years? Good god these people plan ahead. I still can't really tell why Tarvek is a love interest, but given that the silly extra stories imply Agatha's going to try the Tenchi Solution with him and Gil, I am not complaining. (The Tenchi Solution is when you have multiple love interests but just give up and accept all of them. One of the bits in a silly extra story features someone saying "But what would you do with two boyfriends?" and every female character in the room grinning.) Also, lots of awesome brilliant curvy female characters! And the line "You cannot deny that he has a magnificent death ray" when one character is trying to convince Agatha to pick a particular love interest. How can you go wrong with that, I mean really.
The other webcomic I have finished rereading is Questionable Content, which is considerably less porny than it sounds. I do not love it quite as much as Girl Genius because there are not a lot of things I love quite as much as Girl Genius, but it is still pretty good, yes. Although, in true form, I became much more interested when he introduced a fangirl character who watches yaoi and is socially-awkward but not made fun of for it and is accepted into the indie-folks main crowd because they think she is pretty cool. At one point the male lead is forced to dress up as one of her favorite yaoi boys so the others can cheer her up. I am down with that in pretty much every way possible.
