Roberto's relationship with Johan is . . . special. Yes. Special is the word for it.
Also that may be, like, Tenma's MOST BADASS MOMENT EVER. Well maybe not ever. But it is pretty damn badass.
(Yeah, I think Johan would not be super-impressed with Friend. But then, neither Otcho nor Yukiji would be very impressed with Johan, so maybe it balances out?)
I too am boggled by that translation. "My dear Doctor Tenma" is way creepier!
"Special" is a very accurate descriptor. *nods* (Honestly when the psychiatrist asked him about his "mistress" I half-expected him to say "Mistress? Nothing miss about it, doctor".)
Deflecting a bullet with another bullet is one of the most badass moments in ANYTHING ever! Tenma is proof that you can be HARDCORE BADASS while still capable of attracting woodland creatures and unicorns, trufax.
(Otcho and Yukiji are immune to Johan's charms, they have had enough of super-charismatic crazy people! They would pretty much just stone-cold shoot him on sight, which is probably why Johan is in the Monster-verse rather than the 20th Century Boys-verse.)
At least the internet appears to follow the proper translation? Or TV Tropes does, anyway, and that is my primary source of Monster-on-the-internet since it cuts spoilers. I do not regularly re-read the HoYay Anime page, shut up.
(They're both blond and obsessed with Tenma! CLEARLY SHE IS AN ADEQUATE SUBSTITUTE.)
Cheating on a major test and having premarital sex do not count if you are Tenma; they are automatically negated by sheer force of pureheartedness. Clearly the same must be true for wanting to kill people!
(Kenji...yeah, that is why Kenji needs Otcho and Yukiji. The image of him playing guitar at Johan, however, is hilarity itself.)
I still have not read the actual page for Monster, because I am pretty sure it would be spoilery even outside the cuts, but I do like seeing it on the other pages! And it will never cease to amuse me that Johan and Tenma are the top picture for the Mind Game Ship page. Oh, boys.

THE UNICORNS UNDERSTAND. It's okay, Tenma! You are still pure and virginal and nonviolent AT HEART.
(He'd do okay with Kenji! Kenji would just sort of hopefully play the guitar at him. Which is why Kenji has Otcho and Yukiji.)
*sheepish* I make it a habit any time I finish a series to go and devour the TVTropes page. IT IS AN ADDICTION. But it's helpful okay!
