Maybe Tenma dumped him off with another shady underworld contact? It seems to be his default mode! Also, as far as timeline issues: I am preeetty sure it all happens in one year. And maybe Muller met Barbara before the stuff with Johan happened? But I think that whole bit happens in 1996. (What happens with Nina in the Muller bit? I actually remember her being pretty hardcore when she faces Muller down, but I might be forgetting damsel-ing that comes after.)

GENDERSWAP IS BEST. It amuses me that I have done more genderswap fanart for this series than I have done regular fanart, but that is just my way.
There are only so many shady underworld contacts Tenma has! Maybe he convinces random nice-looking people to take Dieter in for the day. IT WOULD NOT BE BEYOND HIS POWERS. (Nina does some pretty hardcore stuff, but then she gets kidnapped and almost killed before Muller steps in to save her. Which, as I said, would bother me a little, except the same thing would totally have happened to Tenma and that makes it okay.)
LUNGE IS THE FREAKIEST OF ALL. Well, maybe not all, considering the series he's in, but he looked so creepy when the nurse was talking about how he'd said hunting down Tenma was the most fun he'd ever had. D: D: I WORRY FOR TENMA. WHY DOES HE HAVE TO DEAL WITH SO MANY CRAZY PEOPLE.

Hahaha ALSO TRUE. Except I actually suspect that Dieter spends the whole time tracking Tenma down, with great determination, and manages to show up right when Tenma has just dealt with the danger. And is always a little bit disappointed. (Hah, true! I still say the bit with Nina and Tenma and the Crazy Right Wing Organization kind of epitomizes how well their different approaches generally work.)
Lunge's definition of 'fun' is maybe sometimes a little bit different from other people's . . . BUT. YOU KNOW. TO EACH THEIR OWN.
