If I get the feeling that the show's characters would instinctively treat me like dirt, I'm probably not going to like it.
DAMN. I was all set to persuade you into the wayward world of Gossip Girl, where everything is Pretty and Awesome, but if that's your reason for not wanting to get into it, then yeah, I've got nothing. Well, Serena's really nice, and Dan and Nate are at least polite, but there's really no match against the full force bitchery that is Blair, Chuck, and Georgina (and later Jenny, who starts out very cute and nice (and BORING), but then turns into a backstabbing social climber).
Also, I am growing increasingly paranoid about what lurks in the future of Lost. Because I know a LOT of people who watched S1, and then dropped it for some reason between S2 and S4, because the show totally screwed them over. AUGH.
I was crazy about the first season of Lost--Charlie/Claire was my OTP, and boy howdy if it didn't get some action--and then S2 introduced a character I quite grew to love, and I was still into the mysteries, but stuff just started piling up and there was at least one genuinely awful episode in there somewhere and after the (hella traumatic) end of S3, I really didn't know if I still wanted to be watching any more, and by the time S4 came along, I realized that I didn't. So I just stopped. Such is life. I hear S4 does have its good bits, though, so your mileage may vary.
Charlie/Claire, OMG (IMAGINARY PEANUT BUTTER). Though I have to admit, Jin/Sun, and Boone/Pretty Much Everyone, Ever is more my thing. Along with the Ultimate OTP of Locke/The Island. I've started S2, and I love Desmond (though he was only there for like, two episodes, and then ran off into the jungle, but hopefully he will be back), and the whole Dharma thing, and Ana Lucia/Mr. Eko/Libby, but the Jack/Kate/Sawyer traingle and how a whole episode passes but nothing actually moves forward is, admittedly, kind of grating on me.
Desmond does indeed come back, yes yes. *hearts him* And, you're right, the Jack/Kate/Sawyer thing was another reason I got annoyed--my god, I just started actively drifting off every time they were onscreen together. (Onscreen with other characters, that was fine. But any two of them, or, god forbid, all three of them, and snoozeville.)
...*refrains from saying anything about some of your other favorite characters, which probably says quite a bit, actually*

I was greatly amused by reading it, though.
