Updating from study hall, this is becoming a habbit!

Feb 11, 2003 14:19

I think a lot of my fellow students are taking a secret course in Aerodynamics, because as soon as the teacher left the room, they started tossing paper airplanes around. And we all know that in study hall, whether the teacher is there or not, we MATURE students study, study, study.

Sunday, my folks, those wonderful people, returned the favor ( Read more... )

I know you'd probably completely disagree with me Beej, but training shouldn't be about fun and games. With the constant rate that this planet is coming under attack, we should be taking our training seriously. Having 2 Saiyajins who can go to SSJ4 isn't enough to save us from everything. And I think people not taking their training seriously made them reevaluate their positions the last time we went to war. Big surprise when they find out that killing is not fun and games. I think Vegeta is practical about training. He knows what it is and what it isn't. But to each his own I suppose.

I guess sometimes, like it or not, we all have to be ready to fight. And however we manage to stay prepared, we need to make sure that everyone's prepared, 'cause nothing's ever certain. So there's value in any kind of training as long as we're getting better in some way but we're not neglecting the way people feel, either. I'm glad Gokou recognizes that so well.

Exactly. I mean, it's never fun when it's real, but even things you learn when you're having fun are still things you've learned.

Some of the teachers at school can make learning so much fun I don't even realize I'm learning. That's pretty amazing when you think about it.

*nods* That is pretty cool. My poetry professor has a harder time of it 'cause her subject is a little less hands-on than most, but my cultural anthro prof, even though he has a big lecture class, is really, really good at making his subject come to life. I'm never bored in that class!

Wow, that's good. I wish more of my teachers had that attitude though. My English teacher I think could make sex sound boring and dull. She really is terrible.

My literature teacher, on the other hand, makes the class a lot of fun.

I'm sorry to hear about English class. Languages ought to be fun to learn, but for some reason a lot of language teachers tend to get frustrated pretty easily. I ran into that problem on the base a lot with my tutors. But I'm glad you like your lit teacher. It's got to be awfully cool to have someone there who can really get you involved in what you're reading.

Yeah, lit teacher is great. She really gets me excited about the books I'm reading. And she doesn't overanalize them, which is really great.

I'm glad. Overanalyzation ruins a lot of things. I read a lot of stuff on the base that I enjoyed until people started trying to get me to read too far between the lines *all* the time. *grimaces*

I know what you mean. Good books should be relished and appreciated but never picked apart until they become nothing but words that we're trying desperately to put meaning into.

I disagree. Those who questioned what we were doing on that mission with Froster probably wouldn't have even come along. And like it or not, we needed them.

When it comes to training, what counts is to get us out there and get us training. And while some folks can motivate themselves completely on the idea that this is something we need to do to save ourselves, others... well, if the idea that it will be fun gets them out of bed every morning, so be it.

As far as the snowball wars go, they are teaching us a lot about working as a team, which I think the whole situation with Froster showed us we have to do.

If Vegeta's method of training works for him and you, then that's great, but I still think that it wouldn't hurt Vegeta to see that training can be enjoyable.

Just because you're having a good time doing something, doesn't mean you're not learning.

As for my SSJ4 training, that has very little to do with getting stronger and a whole lot more to do with the side effects of what happens if I don't go SSJ4 on a regular basis ( ... )

I know what my sword is for and it's not for fun Beej. Every notch on there is a life I took. My own life hasn't slowed down enough to teach me anything else or to forget what it means to be a warrior. And I'm not confident enough to say that I'll always rise to the occasion.

My dear Vezelay, I think you misunderstand about the training we are doing. Yes it is fun, and we are all enjoying it, but it is training none the less.

The one thing I noticed fighting Froster, is that we need to learn to work better as a team. And that is what we are doing. We are learning to work with others as if we are one.

So as you can see this is good for all of us. Do not look at this so lightly.

Gesh, Vez, that's just the way he talks you know? Don't take it so personally.

I don't care if it's the way he talks, I don't like anyone calling me their dear.
