Was TERRRIBLY Mainstream...
But The CGI Blew My Socks Off....

Have no issue with mainstream. Have no issue with dumb films. The first Transformers was like that.

I do, however, have a problem with misogynistic, racist, badly made, offensive shit served up for whooping idiot children. The new Transformers was like that.

I found a lot of the immature flitting between cheap laughs and gritty action to be very tedious but I soldiered through that so that I saw the bits with the CG robots kicking ass. I pretty much got what I was expecting.

Regarding the lore, I think this ties in with stuff that they touched on in War Within and some of the more modern comics, I could be mistaken though.

It was more the Decepticon that looked perfectly like a young woman, and the combining nanobots that bothered me. Maybe 'lore' was the wrong word. let's say internal 'rules'. The 'rules' and 'lore' for the movie universe, was set in the first film - and then gleefully tossed aside when it was expedient for the paper-thin plot, or so Mr Bay could film up the dress at her knickers of a teenage girl.

On that note (I'm getting my rant on here), I don't expect the words "pussy" "motherf.." "shit" "asshole" and up-skirt shots in a film based on CHILDREN'S TOYS.

Aye, that one was a bit of a shock to the system.

I'm not sure where the nanobot thing came from but I know that conceptually they were going for a pretender (you remember the old guys that had human shells. Showed up the comics a lot) and ended up with Species.
