Now, in principle I'm not aversed to movies that contain explosions, action and attractive people in saucy underwear/shirtless (delete according to gender and sexuality of viewer), but something about them in Sherlock Holmes is unbelievably shit.

I thought there were two Holmes movies coming out, I hope this is the more frivolous one. And Robert Downey Jr. doesn't *look* like Holmes (unlike another chap in the trailer, who I recognise but can't name).

I love Sherlock Holmes, I've read pretty much all of it thats out there (certainly all the originals, quite a lot of the serious recent stuff, a lot of parody, and other bits and pieces). I think that while this does not fit in to the original Sherlock Holmes canon, it looks like an excellent film.

So it's got Guy Ritchie, the same wacky Hollywood take on the Victorians League of Extrodinary Gentlemen had and features that technique where you slow down and speed up action at random as seen every 15 seconds in Watchmen.

How can they possibly go wrong?
