Shortpile furs?

I need a navy blue and a grey shortpile for an upcoming project, but it seems the only place I can find both is CR crafts. I'll only be using it on the fingers and toes of the suit. I'm not too worried about the feetpaws, but I've heard of cr's shortpile shedding like crazy, and I don't want my handpaws to have bald patches. x-x ( Read more... )

You could try Imstuffedfur. The shorter seal furs have their own category, but it never hurts to look through the whole stock. Email them and ask for samples to double check colors ($1.50 each, if I recall).

On the other hand, I've used CR craft fur for projects, and it worked well and has no bald spots. My stuff was from a few years ago (quality could have changed since), but it was used in these fursuits:

You could always try ordering samples and then abusing them the see how they hold up.

CRSCrafts has both of those colors in seal fur- it's higher quality than shortpile, won't go bald as quickly. All furs can go bald in high contact areas like hands- so if you have your fursuit for a few years you may need to replace the hands eventually anyway. If the critter you're designing has pawpads, this can help protect the fur, since vinyl or whatever is stronger than fur.
