We are still having a ball with the kitties though Pepper has a few health issues. She is on a special diet as she seems to be a bit bloated and has an upset tummy. The vet is trying various things (including deworming though this was already done) as he cannot figure out what is causing the bloating. It hasn't effected her energy though as she plays very energetically or her appetite (they are both constantly hungry).
Jen wanted to name one of the cats Pancakes because several years ago we were watching the TV show "The O.C." and one of the characters rescued a bunny from a medical testing facility and named in Pancakes. As it turns out Pancakes is a pretty good name for him as he is very laid back and very cuddly. He just flops when you pick him up. Pepper is a dynamo who doesn't like to be picked up or cuddled but is always willing to play. She has the loudest purr!
I love having them but I can't believe how tired I am. It is worse than looking after small children!
Sorry to just now be getting back to you but I've hardly been on line lately as RL has been such a busy time.
I do hope Peeper's problems have been sorted by now, poor kitty.
I love the reason for the name. :D
Pepper sounds like my Spike, no picking up and cuddling, though he will sit on me and "allow" me to pat him, but at 14 he's not as energetic as he once was.
I don't know that I'd have the energy for two kittens anymore. lol.
I've just been reading the posts about the kittens. They are so beautiful! I love their really intense stares. With both of you being busy professionals, how do you manage with two kittens? And what do you do when you're staying at the cottage, can you take them? Do they stay inside or are they allowed to go outside?
My sister used to have cats and she still goes to the animal shelter once a week to play with those poor abandoned cats.
They really are both beautiful cats and so very different in temperament from each other.
With both of you being busy professionals, how do you manage with two kittens? It isn't easy. There are actually 3 of us since our daughter also takes her turn. J feeds them in the morning, we are currently coming home at lunch to feed them (we work only about 11 km from home) and Jen feeds them at night. We will be taking them to the cottage (they each have their own carrier) whenever we go but we are closing the cottage this weekend so this will be the last trip for a while. They will be indoor cats only (except for maybe short visits outside on a harness and leash). It is not safe for cats to be loose up north as there are too many wild animals such as raccoons, bears and possibly even wolves. At home we often hear coyotes in nearby fields and cats are often attached by coyotes so we prefer to keep them as indoor pets only

Love all the photos, especially the last one.
Looking forward to one day hearing the story behind the name "Pancakes". :)
