Accidentally watched Last King of Scotland on TV, which's a horrifically stressful, especially when you realise there's nothing truly sympathetic about the main character other than the actor being James McAvoy whose face currently induces a lot of sympathy from me. I like the way you expressed James' penchant for optimistic characters who are "tragically betrayed" because ... yeah, that's it, isn't it? I've seen "Scotland" a few times now, and it's always a slow build-up for me. It's not a fun movie, but I'm always drawn in by it.

Oh lord, that sounds... vaguely familiar, but is that AFTER he writes the most horrid (and possibly vaguely true, but I really can't remember XD) things about everyone else?

I just remember David Tennant had quite an appalling goatee type thing. And how the main character gives up everything for Nina in the end, aw. Oh yes, and Agatha (which is probably not her name, but just her Doctor Who character name??) crashing a race car, lol.
