Office 14 [Thursday afternoon]

Max had missed his office hours the day before since he'd been working on his exam (or sleeping... one of those two). He'd thought he might just do it tomorrow, but then he'd have to actually show up on a Friday. Not something he was all that excited to do. So he'd just wandered over to his office after class

He wasn't going to get that nap unless he ignored the anxious but determined girl that showed up at his door. She wasn't sure this was a good idea, but she'd done it anyway.

Raven knocked on the door frame and waited for Max to acknowledge her.

The knock caused Max to sit up abruptly. So much for napping.

"Come in," he called without taking his feet off the desk.

Raven paused to take a breath to steady herself, then stepped into Max's office. "Professor Maximus," she said.

Max's feet hit the floor when he saw who it was. "What can I do for you?" he asked, voice serious.

Sophie came by a bit later, leaning against the doorway. "Happy it's over?"

Max chuckled, as much because the company was excellent as anything else, really. "Oh, they were decent kids, but... yeah. It's nice to be done with it. Though now I have to figure out what to do with my time."

"Not going to teach another class then?" Sophie settled herself in the visitor's chair like a cat, watching him. "Or do you just mean for the next week, before the next crop of utterly ignorant young students and teachers arrives?"

"Just the next week," Max sighed theatrically. No one was ever going to accuse him of being a good actor. "If I didn't teach I'd probably have to find a real job."
