Congrats a year late! Sorry for not remembering. I hope you're not still catching flak because of it, but that's probably hoping for too much re: human nature.

The swimming anime has far too many half-naked boy abs for me to feel entirely comfortable in my skin as a non-creeper. Otherwise, A++ sports shounen stuff. It's surprisingly hilarious at bits.

Thanks! ♥ If you don't follow me on Tumblr then you probably did not see it and even then you might not have because it was very apropos as I wanted to focus on RL first. I've yet to tell my parents, so that should be interesting and I won't be surprised if I put it off until like. Forever. ;_;

I completely dgaf about their abs tbh, have you seen their EYES. ;_________________;

I did not know that you came out as "gay," as opposed to me knowing you considered yourself "bisexual," but it's baffling to me that anyone is so upset about someone else's sexuality that it makes them not be friends anymore (seriously, fuck that person).

Maybe I did know, but I've assimilated the information into my inner-friend profile for you, so it's not a paradigm shift of any sort.

I stopped involving men in my life many years ago, but it took me most of the time since then to actually figure out that i never wanted to be having sex/relationships with them in the first place and the attraction I did feel was something I constructed as a defensive response because I was scared of being gay. So in a way it wasn't even a paradigm shift for me -- I've "known" for a long time I just never really admitted it until last year ^^;

And yeah, fuck that person, and several other people besides who said/did some really fucked up shit; it's more or less behind me now though, thank fuck.

my favorite part about your shitty friend's shitty comment is the idea that you are OBLIGATED to have your sexuality 100% figured out from the get-go and if you don't it is somehow an offense like lol

maybe instead of getting mad when gay people struggle with realizing they aren't attracted at all to the opposite sex (i went through an identifying-as-bi stage too, as did a lot of my gay friends), largely bc we've been groomed ALL OUR FUCKING LIVES to believe that is the only fucking option, she should be mad at the societal pressures that make understanding sexuality and coming out so fucking impossible and terrifying in the first place! but that would only make sense.

wait does anyone spell yogurt like option 3 i am so confused

lol right like it's this idea that if it's not a choice then how do you not just KNOW?? and that argument is so often coming from straight people who don't understand what a privilege it is to have their sexuality being CONSTANTLY AFFIRMED in EVERY SINGLE WAY EVERY DAY OF THEIR LIVES

ahhh yeah i can see that. i mean i am also a gold star lesbian BUT that doesn't mean i didn't think i was straight (and then bi) for a while, i just never boned a dude and then i figured it out lol. but i'm glad your non-shitty friends AND fandom could help make sense of that! :D i straight up don't understand people who don't want to surround themselves with women tbh, this is including my male friends like pretty much all the males i know and love have primarily a female friends group lol

SORRY LATEST REPLIER those yogurt people are WEIRD

I thought you'd never been in? Does this mean your bi non friend saw it as a step into the closet for you (they didnt think you were straight did they?)? I'm aware of this thing, btw, that everyone is bi and whoever claims they are homosexual are just as bad as straight ppl. I'm sure that you find better friends (I'm still not having the knack).

YOU MADE ME FORGET HOW I USED TO SPELL YOGHURT IN ENGLISH

I've been out as bi for many years but for many of those years there was a growing awareness that my attraction to the opposite sex was very shallow and artificially constructed as a defence mechanism. My bi ex-friend is very into bisexual rights and bisexual visibility so she saw it as a betrayal that I "wore" bisexuality while I was really gay all along.

And coming out as gay has been very illuminating as to what kind of sexuality is "more acceptable" in this society (spoiler: it does not start with L). I mean people, activists included, like to harp on about how lesbians are "more accepted" (because "lesbian" porn is a genre popular with straight males u see, hur hur) but yeah, noooo.

HAHA :D IT'S SUCH A WEIRD WORD ISN'T IT???

Oh right, that's. Yeah.

I think lesbianism has seemed more accepted throughout all of history, because it was easier to hide, and because men didn't feel threatened by dick. But I also KNOW that sexism runs deeper than homophobia and racism, so I'm not surprised by what you tell me :/

I just realised the bloody spelling "reform" from a few yours cough decades ago surely changed our word for yaourt as well, so I couldn't write it in any language. Cheese.

I guess it is kind of understandable that people are resistant to shifting identities because it does lend surface legitimacy to "pray the gay away" type things (do you know what I mean? like, "if who you're attracted to can change over time then why don't you all just try really hard to be straight, since it's obviously possible?" I've heard the argument from homophobic sources but idk how prevalent it is; I honestly don't think homophobic orgs GIVE a crap where we shift if we shift they just want us erased not changed) but like... I didn't go straight sooo. -_-

watch itttt it's fabulous. once you see that animation, omg. *_* it's not super appealing for the story/premise; it's fairly standard school-life shounen sports stuff, but the voices and the characters and the art it all goes so very well together. Kyoto Animation is FANTASTIC.
