Hello all!

I was perusing videos on youtube when I stumbed across this video on tanning deer hides in which the man uses Ivory Soap as his tanning agent. Maybe I'm just living in a hole, but I've never heard of that before. Anyone care to enlighten me? Is this commonly used, and does it work well?

not sure about ivory soap but ive heard that you can use fels naptha soap to tan skins. never done it, dont know anyone else that has, but i might try it over winter break when im home from school.

In light of this, do you mind if I ask how brain-tanning works?

... so is brain tanning not technically "tanning", then, because there's no proper tannins/acids involved
