Some sort of fungus on a salamander mummy?

I live in the Arizona desert and yet lately I've been encountering the occasional Tiger salamander! The first one I ever encountered was discovered by my Mom, who, shall we say, was rather surprised (i.e. screaming AAAAAA WHAT IS IT???!!! :)) I was surprised, too, but also happy to finally encounter one of these guys (in my backyard, under a tarp ( ( Read more... )
