Twilight Hours for my Left Wrist

Feb 29, 2008 14:15

I spent a bit of time yesterday thinking about what activities I either wouldn't be able to do or that I would only be able to do with modifications if I got my left wrist fused. There are two sides to this truth ( Read more... )

Wow.

I can't help thinking that wrist support throughout the day (except for when you are doing special activities or exercise) might extend the time you have before the fusion. But, as you say, you have probably already considered this, or tried it.

I hope the p.m. doc gives you good options. Whenever I hear about this kind of thing, it makes me want to go to school for physical therapy. I didn't believe in P.T., until it fixed my chronic pain (funny how a bone being out of place will cause that), and now I'm super-interested in it. I know it can't fix everything, but the human body is such a mystery to me...I want to know more about how it works. Especially the muscular-skeletal system.

Does this mean that those who want to keep in touch with you more than they have lately should call you sometimes?

Yes, but during the weekdays. Weeknights and weekends are time for me and Rob primarily.

Do you still have my numbers?

long acting pain killers with breakthrough meds if needed is better than taking pain killers prn if you're in constant pain... ive finally learned this....

I think that once you make peace with the fusion, it will be better because you won't (hopefully) be in so much pain and while right now, you say.. gee, if its fused i wont be able to do this, it doesnt sound like you can do them now??

Hugs

I think a pain management doctor might suggest injecting but that seems like a very temp solution to an inevitable problem so is the disabling pain and lack of usage worth the obstacles a fusion sets fourth??

Sucks period but just saying..
