I should have posted this last weekend but this week seems to have fallen on top of me rather heavily. So last weekend, I did some more baking, trying out another new recipe. This time, I made a Canons Ashby coconut bake, it's constructed of layers in a pan and baked basically and includes a jam filling. It came out very tasty, like a bakewell tart ( Read more... )

Your Canons Ashby coconut bakes look delicious! I'm sure it's a recipe that can only improve over time! :-)

I'm sorry you've been suffering with such a nasty throat bug. I hope you feel better SOON! I'm not surprised that you've had trouble concentrating at work. It's really hard to resist the internet when you're feeling so bad. If that co-worker reports you, you could explain that you were having trouble concentrating because you felt so unwell and found you could work better with a few very short mini-breaks rather than your usual two coffee breaks.

Are you able to do any daydreaming or fic-plotting in your head while you work? I find that helps me get through the work day. Music is also extremely helpful, but that may not be an option for you.

Thanks for your words of wisdom, illness really does tend to cloud concentration and cause all manner of problems. I hope that my line manager has been informed of my slip into internet browsing instead of work. But as you say, I have got a good explanation. I hope my line manager thinks so!

I do do some fic writing at work when I can, having a word document open is much less conspicuous than wikipedia ;) I should do that, or take a quick walk away from my desk, to wake myself up a bit :)
