The snow seems to have arrived just as predicted, and is comeing down quite steadily now, and sticking, with more to come (at 1 am tonight, apparently). I'm a bit apprehensive about tomorrow. I cheered up a bit yesterday, and pottered about buying Christmas pudding ingredients and unusual cheese. It was bitterly cold, and I found that almost all of my joints began to seize up painfully. After I reached the restaurant, the sleet turned to snow, huge flakes of real, quite heavy persistent wet snow. Could this be something to do with global warming (irony). Puttnig the clocks back has plunged us right into the depths of winter, and I discovered the first major drawback of my job; it's bloody cold in the workshop. The weather forecast has promised that by the middle of next week temperatures will reach seasonal averages and it will actually feel summery! It certainly doesn't now. Woke up on Monday with a scratchy throat, sniffles and a slight fever, and the conviction that I was Very Ill Indeed. I checked the scar and was relieved to see that there was no infection there, so I reconciled myself to just having a cold, although I don't get colds very often. I just managed to get out in the tiny sliver of good weather between patches of heavy. At the moment, it looks and sounds as if someone is throwing buckets of water against my window. On the bright side, the water was warm on my bare feet when I went out to unblock the terrace drain just now (first time it's blocked this year).
