Yet another not-very-busy week, filled with aimless pottering. I spent most of the weekend flat out with what seems to have been a return of the Mystery Virus. This put me into bed at nine-o'clock on Saturday evening with a temperature of 40 degrees, and saw me feeling perfectly well by Sunday afternoon. I'm seeing the doctor about it tomorrow ( Read more... )

Strange about the returning virus...they do seem to be particularly stubborn to get rid of permanently this year. Glad you recovered quickly.

I have miniature daffs coming up and buds on the primulas. I fear another cold spell though and the poor things will get covered with snow or frost. I need to clear out my pots as the contents look pretty dead. I'll wait a bit longer just in case something miraculously sprouts!

Daffs are pretty tough, and will withstand freezing temperatures quite well. A lot of bulbs need freezing or near-freezing temperatures before they can flower. I have a fine crop of dead things in pots too, but was surprised to find that a lot of bulbs in the same pots were starting to come up! I bought a load of cheap bulbs in a 99p store last year and forgot about having planted them.

I know in my logical mind that people eat squirrel in many places but I can't do it. It's one of those awwwww...so cute...things. But I do like rabbit and I guess that comes from my dad being a hunter and being brought up eating it. I do love a good stewed bunny.

Manolo bought me a calamondin for Christmas. How tall is yours? Mine has a few buds on it now.

Nothing can kill lemon verbena.

That viral thing is worrisome. A temp of 40 is rather extreme.
Let us know what the doctor says.

I, on the other hand, would be reluctant to eat squirrel because ewwwww, bushy-tailed rat! Really don't fancy eating rat.

Bunny, though... yum, yum, yum!

Dressed, it did look a lot like a very small rabbit, and I suppose would taste about the same, but far too expensive!

There seem to be lots of nasty viruses doing the rounds this winter. Virtually everyone I know (normally healthy people) have been ill with one thing or another, and the "just won't go away" or "keeps coming back" aspects feature large. Just make sure you take things nice and easy for as long as you feel under the weather because the more you try to "beat it" or "battle through" the longer it will take, it seems.

Yes, I (very slightly) overdid it yesterday, and have spend most of today lying down.

We do hope you feel better soon...and sooner then later. It took us 2 Z packs (major antibiotics) and a round of a different strong antibiotic with steroids to clean it up.
