Injection things!

Hello! It's me again (much calmer so far one week back on injections, thanks for your help on that). I just had a random attack of itching at a 7 day old injection site (just slightly warm to the touch, the usual slight bump, no pain - pretty much normal from what i remember with previous shots except the lack of pain heh) and it made me wonder ( Read more... )

The biggest red flag for an infected injection site, and really infection in general, is it will be severely painful. A little soreness is normal, especially since you're injecting into a muscle, but if it's a sharp, stabbing, needle-like pain that is an immediate cause for concern. If it becomes red and feels hot to the touch that also confirms an infection is brewing. It sounds like you have a delayed, mild allergic reaction. I get something similar a few days after my shots, too. :) Those tend to be the small, itchy, painless bumps you described. A little dab of cortisone cream will stop it if the itching becomes really bad.
