Please do not bind with ACE bandages as it can cause a lot of health issues. Binding in general can, but ace bandages are the worst for it. You can look into sewing your own binders like suggested here: http://marvinuniverse.tumblr.com/post/34631541789/tutorial-chest-binder or http://theartoftransition.net/ftm-transition-5-chest-binding-methods/

The other day someone posted a link to really cheap binders on ebay, and they look just like ordinary tanktops:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251245214760?var=550221098819&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Perhaps a low-cost option?

You can buy a pre-paid debit card at a grocery store and have it shipped to a friend's house. There are even cheaper ones. Another safe alternative to bandages is abdominal braces that you can find in most drugstores.

Drat, sorry to hear that. :(

There are some sports bras that have compression layers (esp. running bras), and there are "normal" compression shirts for sports as well (one thin, tight layer). I use a combination of those when I run and it works quite well for me. The advantage is you can get this stuff in every sports shop, so you could just "go shopping for P.E. class" or something along this line.

Depending on how big you are, you might get away with adapting a pair of high lycra/spandex-content tights. You just need scissors - cut off the legs to make the armholes, cut a slit down the crotch to make a head hole. Not the most effective binder, but it's cheap and easy to make, and easy to hide.

I'd give it a whirl - you've got nothing to lose except for a pair of tights. And you may find it's enough, especially if you go for the cunning layering route with a decent t-shirt.

i use undershirts from wal-mart, men's section, small size. you can fold them up when you wear them, for double compression.
