I was listed as male on my insurance and got hysto covered. I have also helped tons of guys in the same situation. As of January 2011 I am averaging about 2 guys per month listed as male who I have helped get hysto so it isn't so uncommon.

The biggest thing is that the surgeon has to be on board to use proper wording for your situation.

I have gotten my SS changed to male with two year old letter from my personal doctor, copy of my DL with male marker, a copy of my BC without gender marker, and filled out SS-5 form. I got my new SS card in few days.

if you have any kind of letter from doctor/therapist. you may be able to use them.

note: I am pre-hysto. I only have top surgery and I am on T.
