Top Surgery in Louisiana

 Hello, First time posting.

I live in NW Louisiana in the USA, and I'm looking into getting top surgery (breast removal via lipo). Does anyone have a doctor they can recommend?
I'm currently planning to use Dr. W. Harold Brown Jr. ( www.brownoneal.com/our-doctors )
Anyone from the area have any advice? Perhaps knowledge of well experienced doctors in ( Read more... )

Completely OT but would that NW corner happen to be Monroe? I moved from there about a year ago. It's a small world and such.

Closer to Shreveport, but we go to Monroe for shopping sometimes.

Transbucket's search brought up nothing for Louisiana.
I picked Dr. Brown for a previous surgery based on other doctors and acquaintances' recommendations. I brought up top surgery prices to him and he was very confident that he could give me great results.
I felt safe with him until I brought it up on a trans forum and everyone started spewing bewares. So now I'm trying to look around, but other local plastic surgeons charge two to three times more and are less certified.

Do you solely want to look in the northern Louisiana area for a surgeon? Often guys travel to work with a surgeon who has a lot of experience specifically in FTM chest reconstruction. The Dallas area might be closest to you. Plano and Arlington each has a widely-used surgeon who specializes in FTM chest reconstruction.
I have seen Dr. Raphael's results for lipo with nipple grafts, and they were excellent looking: Dr. Peter Raphael MD, American Institute for Plastic Surgery, (972) 543-2477, www.ai4ps.com , patient coordinator = Janie at email: Janie@ai4ps.com
Other doc. gets good recommendations too; I just haven't seen his work: Dr. Anthony Tran MD, Phone: (817) 467-5081, www.atranmd.com

Going out of town would complicate things because the only person who can drive in that area would be my father, and he drives a city bus so its very difficult for him to get days off; plus we'd need to get a hotel.
It would also make it hard to go see them for follow ups and questions. This guy's office is about 35mins away.
He claims to have done this before, but because the taking of photos at his clinic is voluntary he doesn't have many examples of any of his work. But, like I said, every Dr. we've run into has only good to say about him, and he's been voted a top area surgeon by several groups.

Nothings scheduled yet, but $4080 for practically full body lipo (hes doing my back and gut too) is hard to beat, and I was happy with his work on my neck.
I'm really not sure what to ask him and his people to find out more.

If you go to the Pflag meeting, (3rd Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. at the Philadelphia Center) you should be able to meet Pamela Raintree. She runs a group called Tgap, (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tgap/) which is a trans support group. Pam is also very knowledgeable about trans-related things in the Shreveport area. She might be able to help, or connect you with someone who can.

I've been to a few of the meetings, I believe it was when you left (if you're the same Korin) that the trans meetings fell apart. I'm going on the 16 (I think thats when it is) and I'll ask around, but I don't expect much. I stopped going because it had turned more into a current event/political debate group instead of a support group.

I would still talk to Pam. She should be able to help. She knows a lot about the area.
