Binder Q's

Feb 26, 2010 12:18

Hullo Everyone,  Bout time for me to get a new binder and i got a few questions.

1. I have a tri-top from underworks that is ill fitting since i've recently lost weight, has anyone  ever had their binder (as in a tri-top or something akin) taken in/tailored? I figure if it's not too expensive it might be worth a shot.

i used to tailor my tri-tops when they got old and stretched out. if you have a sewing machine it is a piece of cake, and if you have a needle, some dental floss, and a modest amount of manual dexterity it is still pretty easy. turn it inside out, sew a new side seam a 1/2" to 1" in from the old one, and you're good to go.

as fiveinchviking says, taking in a binder is pretty easy - you can use a machine or hand sew it. remember that if you're taking off an inch on either side, you're making it two inches smaller ... so the first step is to determine how much smaller it needs to be, and going from there - take both sides in the same amount ( ... )

Yeah, the name of the place was immediately off-putting to me. Thing is i've been interested in a velcro binder for some time now, and while i did cock an eyebrow at the hard padding in the front i was really attracted to the prospect of extra side coverage; as i am very well endowed i frequently have a side boob overflow problem with my tri-top, it's the annoying price i pay to achieve my desired amount of flatness. But while i'm taking in the sides of my old tri-top i think i'll just try taking in the shoulder straps a bit as well to decrease the armhole area. Thanks for your response it was very helpful. G'day :-)

I've used the Loving Comfort. It's more comfortable, and the Velcro sticks a lot better than Neoprene tummy trimmers from department stores. The ribbed appearance is due to the two thicknesses and textures of fabric incorporated in horizontal rows. It can sometimes bunch a little along these rows after a period of wearing it. I have one to give away and also two Neoprene ones if anyone's interested in trying them.
