Real!Life Doctor Who

I just realised that I had kind of "first contact" with Doctor Who way before the new series made it into German TV this year. Well, not with "The Doctor", but someone who borrowed his name in real life. ( The Doctor is in )

doctor who, holiday

Great story - thanks for sharing.

Brings back memories of the camps at the Baltic Sea for me (we were picked up daily on the coach and then sent back in the evening) - more years ago than I care to admit!

My pleasure :)

Being picked up daily wouldn't have worked for me (I lived much closer to the North Sea than the Baltic Sea), so we stayed there 24/7 the whole 2 weeks. It was fun - sleeping in tents, only a 5 minute-walk to the beach. Concerning how long ago that was... I'd rather not think about it, but the last time must have been 15 years ago (first time 23 years, omg!). Not always Baltic Sea, though. Sometimes it was Bavaria or once even a canoo trip to Sweden.

I lived in Kiel and they took us on daily trips to a local camp on the sea, not sure whether people stayed overnight, I think the huts were for day use only - and it's about 25 + years ago for me too!

Hee hee hee! :) That's excellent!

Makes me think of am anger who had a name tag made for him by fellow staff members that read "The Doctor". He thought it was a reference to Doctor Who and was terribly proud...

...However, the staff knew differently and it was actually a reference to how, when someone was off sick from work, they would have to see him on their return and explain their absence and he would look at then and nod like a doctor in his surgery...

I wonder if anyone ever told him...?

*G*
