Commentary I Posted In The "Shortpacked!" Forum

(This is my attempt at a "fanstrip", as I can't draw comics worth diddly. Imagine this being drawn sketchbook style like some of David Willis' likeable commentary strips...)

FPILOT: This is FPilot here. In the nine years I've been online, I've been witness to countless controversies regarding fictional continuity and perceived "flaws" when it comes to adaptation to film. To tell the truth, I haven't been all that innocent myself when it comes to this subject.

FONT (flashes): ROBOTECH EARLY/LATE "RETURN"

FPILOT: But you know, people, it helps to get some perspective.

FPILOT: This Fall, two new movies about air combat in the First World War, Flyboys and Der Rote Baron, will appear in theaters. On the one hand, I'm excited as there haven't been any movies to deal with this subject in years. On the other, I'm dreading it because every single movie ever made has botched it one way or another.

FPILOT: Non-period aircraft. Erroneous details. Horrid special effects. Bad acting. Guns with impossibly large loads of ammo to pad out combat scenes. Stupid humor. Cliches and stereotypes.

FPILOT: This isn't a 1980s toy line or a comic book superhero I'm talking about! This is HISTORY! Events that ACTUALLY HAPPENED on our planet!

FPILOT: But I'm old enough and have seen enough to give these filmmakers a little slack. I'm willing to forgive a thrice-damned Pearl Harbor if somehow a Saving Private Ryan emerges.

FPILOT: In the meantime--Beware the Hun in the Sun!

WILLIS: But what does it have to do with "Shortpacked!"?

FPILOT: You know they don't even MAKE toys of WW1 airplanes anymore? Try finding a Royal Aircraft Factory SE.5A at WallyWorld.
