Mars and Venus: The Difference Between Male Starconners and Female Starconners

(Yes, I have decided to call Star Control fans "Starconners." "Starconnie" is too cute, "Star Control freak" is too easy a pun, and I can't think of anything suitable that ends in "-head ( Read more... )

To sum up:

Boys: MILTARY TACTICS! 8D
Girls: TENTACLE PORN! 8D
FUN: *is has by all* 8D

Personally, I played SC2 after years of hanging around on the internet and in various fandoms. Maybe if I'd played it before fandom came along and toughened me up (because it does that, you know. At first you're startled at boys kissing and then suddenly you look up and you're happily reading a Care Bears orgy), I would have been as horrified as the guys over on UQM. I don't know. As it was? "Hey, they're not all that ugly. In fact... Hey guys gimme a hug why won't you love meeeeeeeeeee- Hahaha SCORE." I'm pretty sure I would have done this with or without Zarla encouraging my proclivities. XD

Oh, I was a tentacle fetishist before I joined this community. In fact, I learned about Star Control II by accident when I read a secret that mentioned frungylovers on fandomsecrets. Since the secret was written on a piece of zarla's ZEX artwork, I decided that I had to investigate further.
Now I'm playing the best video game of my life. You could say that I came for the tentacles and stayed for everything else.

Yes indeed. The secret in question is number 25 on Secret Post #356.
The post also includes secrets about lusting after the car in Knight Rider and Captain Jack Harkness, incidentally.

I'm really not that into ZEX porn, think turning everyone human is boring, and like redesigning and elaborating on the species best of all. I also think the constant "IS" "IS NOT" arguments about ship capabilities are boring as hell. I prefer Talana to ZEX, and Captain Greenish to both of them.

So guys, guess my gender.

You're a guy, right? You were on the PNF boards and sounded male to me....

Well, I'm biologically female, but I don't really see myself as any gender in particular. SO THE QUESTION WAS A BIT SILLY REALLY SORRY ABOUT THAT.

That's an interesting idea, I hadn't considered the divide in terms of sexes. Does this then indicate that men are naturally more agressive and women more depraved? :)

I don't know if you've looked at it (you don't mention it in your post), but a large part of the work over at SCWC (http://starcontrol.classicgaming.gamespy.com/scwc/) seems to really back your theory up, there are loads of fleet battles and redshirts. It'd be interesting to see what kind of fiction a cooperative work between over the gender line could produce, the next big sci-fi series?

Also, I love the icons based on my news post that I'm suddenly seeing all over the place. Brought a smile to my lips.

If male Starconners and their female counterparts collaborated, the result would be similar to this song: deviant military sailors on booze, except in space.

...I really thought that was going to be Banned From Argo. XD

After looking up "Banned from Argo" on AltaVista, I snickered and simply had to download it. Thank you.
Did you that there's a Lovecraftian version called from "Banned from Arkham"? It's not about xenophilia, though.

Just for the record, I'm male, and happen to find Zarla's ZEX fanart/fics hilarious and adorable. Also a genetics major, so you can add another point to your 'scientifically inclined' dataset. =)
