In the news

I don't know if this is just me, but I've noticed over the last few months that the BBC news website seems to be coming up with a lot of stories that I thought were years old. This is today's example. Yesterday I also saw a story about a study that suggests women end up in relationships with men who resemble their fathers (something I remember ( Read more... )

I'm all for getting rid of those awful hanging trousers, especially when you can see underpants and worse when the wearer has been less than thorough after a visit to the toilet.

Know what you mean about news - maybe some news stories just keep resurfacing.
My condolences about the death of your stepbrothers, a truly awful way to go.

Sorry if that last sentence sounded a bit crass or trite - I lost one of my closest friends to HIV/AIDS ten years ago and it was just awful watching him get iller and iller til in the end it was relief for him to die, I meant it was truly awful to watch him die like that.

erg, must hunt out mental floss!!!

Don't worry, it didn't sound crass or trite: I always find it hard trying to find something to say when someone dies. I never really knew Andrew, but I was very close to Steve, and it was horrid watching him get worse - especially as I sometimes went a few months without seeing him while I was at uni, which made the difference more obvious.

At least it beats them making it up I suppose!

I was a bit confused about the Barrymore story because I would have a thought everyone would have caught it first time around, but it did contain some recent developments.

As to studies, well, that I guess they can pull out whenever they want, kind of 'back up' story for when they don't have anything else to talk about :o)

News is a pretty wacky thing anyway... :o/

I was going to post a link to the spaghetti growing news story from 1957 as proof that making up news can be a good (or at least amusing) thing, but then I realised it was a documentary, not a news item, so might not count.

1. Sounds like one of my lines after I've had a few and get philosophical.
